We always think that then life and the organisms need the sun to survive. But in this episode of BLUE PLANET, we also know that in sea deep is not necessary for some organisms and animals.
At 70's some scientists were exploring the deep ocean and find chimneys that expulse water at high temperatures ( 400Cº ), a temperature where any organism can survive, or is that they think.
In this case, some organisms can survive at high temperatures, and with diferents gases that are not oxygen, gases like methan and sulphudric acids.
The clue are the bacteries that can trasnform these gases to oxygen and energy, and then, the different species that live there like mussels, white crabs and worms, like the Pompeya worms, that are able to live at 80º C.
Later, at 90's, in Mexico, other scientists discovered another amazing and espectacular sea life. They discovered a lake under the sea, where the water is most salty. This case are rarely similar that the other chimneys we talked about. Then, the scientists approve that the sunlight is not necessary for the whole of the species, 'cause some of these are be alive at the dark deep sea.
